Book Review – The Miracle Morning: The Not-So-Obvious Secret Guaranteed to Transform Your Life (Before 8AM)

Book Review - Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod

Whenever I am asked about books that changed my life, this is one that tops the list. There are lots of books out there about having a morning routine and why the most successful people get more done before the rest of the world is even awake (and more importantly, WHAT they do during those wee hours), but this one really spoke to me. I am not sure whether it’s the inspiring story, or the simplicity of the steps and how they are outlined or what, but it was after reading this book, and developing my own SAVERS routine, that I got it.

In fact, I love the concept so much, that I have led Miracle Morning challenges and I have incorporated this into my own coaching program. I truly believe that this book was a game changer. If you’re looking for motivation to make your life miraculous, then start at the beginning.

“The Miracle Morning” is a self-help book, by Hal Elrod, that aims to help readers transform their lives by creating a morning routine that sets them up for success. You will learn the principles and benefits of waking up early and the, you will learn the framework and a step-by-step guide to creating your own morning routine.

In the first part of the book, Elrod introduces the concept of the “Miracle Morning,” which is a morning routine that includes six habits: silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing. He explains how each of these habits can contribute to personal growth and success, and provides examples of how they have worked for him and others.

Elrod also discusses the importance of waking up early and explains the benefits of doing so. He argues that waking up early can give you more time to work on yourself, help you feel more productive and energized throughout the day, and give you a sense of control over your life.

In the second part of the book, Elrod provides a step-by-step guide to creating a personalized morning routine. He encourages readers to experiment with different habits and find the ones that work best for them. He also provides tips for overcoming common obstacles, such as lack of motivation or difficulty waking up early.

Overall, “The Miracle Morning” is practical and inspiring. As a “box checker,” I love that it offers a simple but powerful approach to personal growth and self-improvement. Elrod’s writing is clear and engaging, and his personal stories and examples make the concepts easy to understand and relate to. Whether you’re looking to increase your productivity, improve your health, or simply feel more in control of your life, this book is a valuable resource that can help you achieve your goals.

My own routine has evolved over time, but it is rare that I do not complete all the steps. I find that my day flows and I feel more at ease when I engage in my personal miracle morning. If you add the “6 things” concept from Mary Kay, you can count your day on being golden (reach out for more info on this nugget!).

Curious as to what benefits there might be for you? Here are just a few:

  • Improved mental clarity and focus – starting the day with specific activities can set the tone for a productive and organized day.
  • Increased energy and motivation – engaging in physical exercise or mindfulness practices can boost energy levels and motivation for the day ahead.
  • Better stress management – having a structured morning routine can help reduce stress and anxiety by providing a sense of control and routine in the day.
  • Improved overall health – activities such as stretching, exercise, and eating a nutritious breakfast can positively impact physical health.
  • More time for important tasks – by starting the day with a routine, individuals can ensure they have time for important tasks and prioritize their day effectively.
  • Read this book, try implementing the SAVERS in your morning for 30 days, and get back to me. I’d love to hear how it goes. And, as always, connect with me if you want help. Setting up routines for success and following through are a key element to what I believe, teach, and coach my clients on.
