The Circles of Awareness

Circles of AwarenessThis week on MeetUp, we’ll discuss the Circles of Awareness. In keeping on the 7 levels of energy thread, let’s deep dive into the Energetic Self Perception chart where the levels of energy are shown within three circles of awareness: self, self-mastery, and self-transcendence. Within each circle, there are words describing it.

Join me as I describe the concepts and discuss how the levels of energy may or may not benefit us in the various aspects of our personal and professional lives.

The circle of awareness is a concept developed by the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). The circle of awareness is a visual representation of the different levels of consciousness or awareness that individuals can experience. It provides a framework for understanding how people perceive and interact with the world around them.

At the center of the circle of awareness is the “Self” or the individual’s current level of consciousness. The Self represents the person’s thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and behaviors in their present state. It is the starting point for self-awareness and personal growth.

Moving outward from the Self, the next level of awareness is called the “Others” level. This level involves recognizing and understanding the perspectives, emotions, and needs of other people. It emphasizes the importance of empathy, active listening, and building effective relationships with others.

The third level of awareness is the “Context” level. This level involves considering the broader context in which individuals operate, including their environment, culture, and systems. It encourages individuals to take a step back and examine how external factors influence their thoughts, feelings, and actions.

The outermost level of awareness is the “Higher Consciousness” level. This level represents a deeper and more profound level of awareness that goes beyond the individual’s immediate experience. It involves tapping into intuition, wisdom, and a sense of interconnectedness with something greater than oneself.

The circle of awareness is not a linear progression, but rather a dynamic and continuous process. It suggests that individuals can expand their awareness by moving from the center of the circle towards the outer levels. This expansion of awareness enables individuals to gain new perspectives, make more conscious choices, and live a more fulfilling life.

As an iPEC coach, I use the circle of awareness as a tool to help my clients become more self-aware, improve their relationships, and make positive changes in their lives. By exploring the different levels of awareness, individuals can gain insights into their own patterns of thinking and behavior, develop greater empathy towards others, and cultivate a more holistic view of their lives and the world around them.
